The Impact of Public Debt on Economic Growth in Egypt during the Period 2000-2019

Abstract

This research paper aims to measure the impact of public debt and economic growth in Egypt (where economic growth was expressed in the growth of GDP)and due to the short time series we resorted to the (ARDL) methodology that is used specifically in to address this problem statistically that is, the problem of short time series most important results of this research is the existence of a long relationship between economic growth expressed through GDP growth and the independent variable public debt in the model in Egypt, which suggests the stability of the economic relationship between them in the long term. Among the results of the research is also the existence of a direct relationship between the two variables, specifically the increase in public debt by one unit, which leads to an increase in economic growth by 0.121363 units.
